Mr. President
Well I guess its time for another musing of my thoughts. As always, that could be dangerous. Just giving you a warning. I was talking to myself again the other day (truly I think I am sane) and was asking myself some questions. I was wondering why there seemed to be such little respect for authority, and so little integrity with people. I answered first that I was centering my data results on what I was reading in the headlines. I immediately realized the negative influence there and re-focused on the question.
As I continued to ponder my questions, I thought of all the people I hear continuously degrading and defaming our president. Now don’t get me wrong, I do not agree with the president on every issue. However, I would never claim that I was going to “stuff something down his throat”, write songs about killing him, tell out and out lies about him, and try to destroy the country just to make my point. Yet I find supposed leaders, and people of influence doing that very thing. Kerry, Biden, Reid, Pelosi, Kennedy, O’Donnell, Streisand and most of the rest of a bitter “terrorist friendly” political party. I thought maybe it was just the current generation that didn’t receive proper training in manners and respect by their parents. But then I realized this is not a new generation, it is my generation, and I know my parents taught me those principles. They also taught me how to judge signs of a person with good character. How to recognize a principled person, whether I agreed with their doctrine or not. I was taught to respect the office of authority. Then the military reinforced that in me. We have lawmakers that believe they have been given some special authority to, not only disrespect the office, but to actually believe they have become the person appointed to that office. Then take it further and try and destroy the character of the man. I have, over the years, been fairly adept at judging character. I believe that this president has deep character. I believe him to be compassionate, but firm. I have met him face to face, and though only briefly, I saw the sincerity, compassion and firmness in his eyes. I had the awesome privilege to be an escort with his father for a few days onboard one of the ships I served. I also saw in his father, a man of character and principle. He obviously passed that legacy onto his son in great measure. I have grown tired, of those that judge a man’s character, when they lack so little character themselves. So easily ready to turn their back on those that need our help, so readily willing to help those that seek to destroy us. They then criticize the one who has stood and taken all the verbal abuse and stayed true to his convictions and character. All the while, they pander for votes, and change their “supposed convictions” with every poll that is released. Mr. President, I am proud to have met you. Proud to have served under you, proud to live in this nation under your direction, and I am thankful that we still have principled people who stand for “right” even when others don’t agree. To you Mr. President, I say “Keep standing and I will continue to pray that others will stand with you. I am positive in the end they will. God bless you and keep you sir.”
I guess I haven’t really answered my questions, but I will keep praying that men and women, of principle and character, will begin to start standing strong with this president against the forces of evil that wish to destroy us.
